Bloomsbury Publishing published the Deathly Hallows in UK and by Scholastic Press in the USA, by Raincoast Books in Canada. The novel has been released in ninety-three countries. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows broke all sales records as the fastest-selling book ever, selling more than eleven million copies in the first twenty-four hours of its release breaking the record of nine millions held by Half-Blood Prince.

The Plot

Lord Voldemort plans to trap Harry Potter when he leaves the protected Dursley home with the Order of the Phoenix for the last time. Voldemort also search for a new wand to defeat Harry's. As Harry is escorted by the members of the order to a safe house, the Death Eaters attack them en route. Harry narrowly escapes, but Hedwig and Mad-Eye Moody are killed.

At Bill and Fleur’s wedding reception, Kingsley Shacklebolt's Patronus announced that Scrimgeour is dead and that Voldemort has taken control over the Ministry of Magic. As Death Eaters approach, Harry, Ron and Hermione disappeared and entered the Muggle world, where more Death Eaters attacked them. They took refuge in 12 Grimmauld Place.

Inside the hideout, Harry understands that Sirius Black's brother Regulus was the "R.A.B" who removed the Locket Horcrux from the sea cave. Hermione, Ron and Harry then deduced that the Horcrux has fallen into the possession of Dolores Umbridge via Mundungus Fletcher. They successfully infiltrate the Ministry of Magic and recover the locket, but Grimmauld Place is attacked during their escape, forcing them to flee to the countryside.

The trio learns that the Gryffindor Sword is a fake. Harry wants to find the real one because it can destroy Horcruxes, but Ron leaves the group. Harry and Hermione seek the sword in Godric's Hollow, but they are ambushed by Nagini and Voldemort. While returning, Hermione accidentally breaks Harry's wand. In the Forest of Dean, as Harry tries to retrieve the real sword from the icy pond he is strangulated by the Locket Horcrux. Ron saves him and destroys the locket with the sword.

Luna's father Xenophilius Lovegood tells them that the cryptic symbol they have repeatedly come across represents the three Deathly Hallows, the Elder Wand, Resurrection Stone and Invisibility Cloak. Lovegood told them Luna has been abducted by the Death Eaters for supporting Harry. Dobby Apparates into the cellar and rescues Luna, Dean and Ollivander. The noise prompts Peter Pettigrew to investigate. He chokes Harry but soon remembers his life debts and kills himself. Meanwhile Dobby is killed by Bellatrix's knife during the escape.

Harry alerts the staff to Voldemort's approaching invasion; meanwhile Voldemort kill Snape with Nagini, believing it will make him the Elder Wand's master. As Snape dies, he proves his loyalty to Dumbledore, and his love for Harry's mother Lily. The memories show that Harry himself is a Horcrux; he must die in order to destroy Voldemort. Resigned to death, Harry approaches Voldemort's camp in the Forbidden Forest. On his way Voldemort strikes him with Avada Kedavra.

Harry revives, but pretended to be dead in front of Voldemort and the Death Eaters. Harry is carried to Hogwarts. Being the Elder Wand's true master, Harry confronted Voldemort. Voldemort casts another Killing Curse at Harry, but the wand refuses to attack its true master and the wand rebounds on Voldemort, killing him. After the battle, before returning the Elder Wand to the tomb of Dumbledore, Harry used it to repair his own wand.
