Owls | |
| If you are a fan of Harry Potter or have read the books of Harry Potter or have watched the movies made based on the stories so far, you surely know about the importance of the owls in Harry Potter stories. Owls are one of the most common motifs in all books of Harry Potter series. Without the presence of owls, stories of harry Potter can't even be thought of. |
Owls of different types have made their presence felt very strongly in all books of Harry Potter series because they have been considered as the most visible aspect of the world of magic. We can notice the arrival of owls at the beginning of all stories of the Harry Potter series. Except the last book, Harry Potter and the deadly hallows, the owls have played a very important role in all other harry potter series. It seems that author J K Rowling has replaced the carrier pigeons with the owls because we see the owls working as messengers from the Hogwarts School to Harry Potter and his friends Ronald Weasley and Hermoine Granger. Owls have been shown as communicators between wizards in the books of Harry Potter series.
Speaking about presence of owls in Harry Potter stories one must not forget to mention about Hedwig, a common companion of Harry Potter on his journey to Hogwarts School of witch craft. Hedwig is the name of the snowy owl that remains caged in Harry's house. Harry got Hedwig as a gift from Rubius Hagred, the caretaker of Hogwards school of witch craft on his 11th birthday while he was going to Hogwarts for the first time.
Apart from that, the notice for admission of Harry Potter in the Hogwarts school of witch craft was also brought by a owl and the film has shown the roof of Harry Potter's hose being crowded with lots and lots of owls. They appeared as Harry's uncle was continuously throwing the letters of admission of Harry Potter in Hogwarts in the fire place. Besides, the Nimbus 2000 was brought to Harry Potter by an owl.
However, apart from accompanying Harry Potter, the owls have made their presence felt in other ways also. Like Harry Potter, his friends Ronald Weasley, Hermoine Granger and the twin brothers have also got owls as their guests. The author of Harry Potter's stories have also mention about the existence of an owl named Errol in the Weasley family. In the films an original snowy owl played the role of Hedwig while a great gray owl portrayed the role of Errol, the clumsy owl of the Weasley family.
On the other hand the large owl which we get to see with Draco Malfoy is belongs to the species of eagle owl, the heaviest owl in entire Europe. Eagle owls are generally not seen in United States of America but you may get to see some in some parts of Asian continent.
